high-fives We Learned to Ride at Summer Streets!
If you like riding through city streets when there's no motorized traffic, such as at the Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour, then be sure to check out Summer Streets. For the first three Saturdays in August, nearly 7 miles of Manhattan streets will be car-free from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park and free for the enjoyment of cyclists, joggers, skaters, and strollers of all ages and abilities. On all three dates, Bike New York is offering its new adult Learn to Ride classes followed by kids classes for children and their parents. Spread the word to people you know who have so far missed out on learning this lifelong skill, whether they're 8 or 80.

Harlem Valley Rail Ride Wrap-up
ride on rail trail Bike New York's two previous rides dodged stormy forecasts, but we weren't so lucky at the 2008 Harlem Valley Rail Ride on Sunday, July 27. And we proved that even amid torrential (and mercifully brief) afternoon downpours, it's still possible to have a fun ride. Thank you to the volunteers and riders who braved the conditions and put in a full day. Time Trial results and ride photos are posted.
